Hearts and Homes for Veterans, Inc. is a Florida nonprofit corporation that was created in 2013. Its purpose is to support homeless veterans, and their families, who find themselves without the necessities of everyday life. It is committed to empowering these veterans to lift themselves out of poverty and then, in turn, reach back and help other veterans do the same.

The Café of Life is a faith-based institution, believing in the teaching of all great religions that one must love and assist one's neighbor in time of need. The Café is not affiliated with any particular religion or denomination. Its mission is to provide basic human needs to the very poor and hungry people of the greater Bonita Springs area, in a manner that preserves the dignity of the client in a respectful environment.

​Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties partners with the community to provide decent, affordable homes for people in need so they may build better lives for themselves and their families. Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties has served over 1,556 families in Lee and Hendry counties through an affordable mortgage, since its charter in 1982. Together with donors, homeowners, volunteers and staff, Habitat transforms lives by helping families build strength, stability and self-reliance.

 

Interfaith Charities of South Lee

​Interfaith Charities of South Lee (ICSL) is a food pantry and community service organization serving the residents of South Fort Myers, Estero, and San Carlos Park. Since its founding in 1992, ICSL has grown at a significant rate to meet the increasing needs of the community. ICSL receives grants from United Way of Lee, Henry and Glades counties to assist in the payment of client utility bills, rents and mortgages. Other programs include connecting clients with available services such as VITA (a free income tax return preparation service) and Meals on Wheels, which delivers meals to those in need. ICSL continues to add programs as it is able in order to provide essential services that would otherwise go unmet.

Literacy Council Gulf Coast

The mission of the Literacy Council Gulf Coast is to assist adults and children to acquire the English literacy skills and education necessary to improve their quality of life and enhance the entire community. In addition to English language instruction for both adults and children, GED classes, advanced writing, family literacy, worksite literacy, US citizenship preparation and computer skills classes are offered. The Literacy Council has been active in Shadow Wood for 15 years, helping employees of the community association and the country club improve their lives and those of their families.

Friends of the Salvation Army

The mission of Friends of The Salvation Army is to create awareness of the needs of its neighbors in Bonita Springs and Estero. Its purpose is to provide funding for counseling and other services for those seeking assistance in dealing with domestic violence and recovery from drug, alcohol and substance abuse.

 

Feeding the 5000

Feeding the 5000: Thanksgiving Outreach is a local community of volunteers and business partners coming together in the battle against hunger in southwest Florida. Hundreds of community volunteers join together during the week of Thanksgiving to prepare and package complete Thanksgiving meals, complete with fixings. On Thanksgiving morning, volunteer drivers deliver those meals to families and ensure that everyone has plenty to be thankful for. Feeding the 5000 provides the best opportunity to fight against hunger, to support the local community, and to help needy families during the holiday season.

New Horizons of SW Florida

New Horizons is a local non-profit organization serving over 600 at-risk students in grades K-12 at ten locations in Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero and South Ft. Myers. During the school year and summer, New Horizons staff and nearly 600 community volunteers provide at-risk students over 100,000 hours of tutoring and mentoring. In addition, New Horizons provides students with snacks, transportation and many community activities to give them hope and opportunity.

Guardian ad Litem Foundation

Guardian ad Litem Foundation-20th Judicial Circuit  Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) agency supporting Florida's 20th Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry and Glades counties. It mission to ensure that every child in the dependency court system in SW Florida is represented by a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) volunteer advocate. It raises fund for the purpose that 1) every abused, neglected or abandoned child in Southwest Florida may be paired with a GAL volunteer advocate whose role is to represent the best interests of the child until a safe, permanent placement can be achieved; and 2) so every GAL volunteer may access financial assistance and resources on behalf of the child and not provided by any other source.
